Hayden, President, Discusses Her "LB Experience"

I'm going to be completely honest with y'all. I rushed {sororities}, dropped out because it was not for me, went through some other spirit group recruitments, got denied and then was very frustrated. I wanted, so badly, to get out there and meet people. So one night, Barbara, Devi and I got together and formed The Ladybirds.
I had no idea what it would turn into, but I really did not expect it to become the family of girls that we have today. We can talk to one another about anything and we comfort each other when we are having problems. Basically I feel like these girls are always pulling for me, and I them.
I have always felt I have reached a really good friendship level with someone when I see something that reminds me of a person and feel comfortable sending it to them. That has happened so many times to me this summer, and it really hint me--these girls are my sisters and I really miss them!
I have enjoyed so many of my experiences as an LB but I think one of my favorites will always be when Amanda, our treasurer, and I went to a Texas Rugby game {see photo to the right}. We had no idea where the pitch was, but I routed us by bus {it took almost an hour}, it was raining and cold, the road down to the actual pitch was a dirt road, we road in the back of a person's truck {I felt VERY Texas}, and we finally arrived. An FYI, Amanda and I know very little about rugby, but we stood there, freezing cheering Texas on because that is why we are part of the LBs. Not just to support our NCAA teams, but everyone who attends UT. That is one of the main principles Ladybirds is founded on and in that {extremely cold} moment I was so proud of what we had created.
We ended up getting an Uber back and I have some fantastic photos of that fateful day. Another important moment was when we were at Retreat in Johnson City. One of our LBs was considering joining another spirit group as well as LBs. She ended up deciding to be just an LB and become really involved {to the point that she is an officer now}.  It is the little things that
make you realize how important these girls are to you.
Moral of the story? Come out and meet us when fall semester starts up. We are a great group, of very different girls from very different life experiences but when we get together we become sisters. We welcome each others differences with open arms and are always willing to support a sister in any of her endeavors. We have a whole lot of fun, do crazy things, try new restaurants, and enjoy each others company. If you are looking for a family environment where you get to be super involved, come join us! LBXO y'all!
