The Ladybirds spirit organization was founded in memory of Ladybird Johnson, and while that may be evident in our name it is our goal that she is represented in many more ways. We strive to be strong, independent, and smart young women just as Ladybird was because as we all know, she didn't need a man! Ladybird became a millionaire all on her own and even helped to fund her husband and JFK's campaigns. When looking at the young women in our spirit organization, it is obvious that every member embodies Ladybird in one way or another.
We've had a successful year in 2016, but already we strive for so much more. We have set a new goal to get a statue of Ladybird on the UT campus. We have also decided to opt out of Spring Recruitment to further bond with our new petals and work on our promotion of Ladybird and her image of keeping the Earth beautiful. We have set another new goal for ourselves and that is to gain a "distinguished status" through the Pillars of the 40 Acres. We plan to host Stress Management sessions to help keep each other calm throughout the semester and reach all of our planned goals! We hope to promote our spirit organization a lot more throughout the year of 2017 and help further strengthen the beautiful memory of Ladybird Johnson.
Happy (late) Birthday Ladybird and Happy New Year. Bring it on 2017! LBXO.
